Tips on Traveling with Children to the Caribbean

Headed out on your first vacation with kids? I have traveled quite a bit with my 5 & 4 year old over the last couple of years and my list keeps growing on things not to forget! Today I am going to share with you some of my must pack items.

1. Activities for the Flight

Don't leave home without packing your kids a backpack of activities. I find most of my things on Amazon or in the dollar section at Target. My favorites are below.

  • Crayola Color Wonder markers and books. They are the best for not getting marker all over them and the plane.

  • Melissa and Doug Water Wow Books

  • Headphones for movies on the plane

2. Snacks for the Plane

Fruit, cheerios, fruit snacks, peanuts or Cheez-its are a few of our favorite snacks to bring.

3. Sunscreen, Sunglasses, SPF Sun Shirt, Sun Hat and Aloe Vera

All are must haves when traveling to the Caribbean.

4. Medicines

Motrin, Benadryl, Benadryl Cream, Bandaids and Neosporin. You may not use them, but they are great to have if needed.

5. Sand and Beach Toys

If you can squeeze some in your suitcase this is perfect for the kids! They are much cheaper to purchase at home. The ones that collapse are the best and don't take up much space.

6. Save the Water or Pass the Gum for Landing

When the plane is landing, this is when kids start to scream due to their ears clogging. I find that saving them some water or juice to drink helps clear their ears. If the kids are old enough, gum works great too!

7. Bring Wipes and Hand Sanitizer

I recommend bringing wipes for the tray tables and seats! Cutting down on the germs the kids touch will probably make for a better vacation!

I hope this list helps you prepare for your trip with your children! Happy Travels!!
